Carmel, Indiana, a suburban community north of Indianapolis, has been named the best place to live in the United States for the second consecutive year. With a population of 91,065, Carmel is a vibrant city with plenty of amenities and economic opportunities. It has the second highest concentration of office workers in Indiana and an unemployment rate that is just over half the national average. All public schools in Carmel have received an A grade or higher, with the exception of Options Charter School, which received a C.The city of Carmel has earned a perfect A+ score in the categories of public schools, housing, good for families and jobs.

Niche gave Carmel an A-Plus rating for its public schools, housing, labor market, health and fitness and family focus; an A lower on public safety; a B higher on nightlife, diversity and outdoor activities; a B rating on the cost of living and travel; and a B lower on climate.Carmel is home to the Performing Arts Center, the 26th Carmel Arts Design District and the Monon Trail.
